As students at the University of Virginia, we are all presented with a unique opportunity to study at a very beautiful campus filled with history and it's own unique culture. But as Wa-Hoos we are able to capitalize on another great opportunity: study abroad, where we can learn, live and experience the beauty, culture and history of other campuses around the globe.
We all have friends or know someone who's done it, gone for a summer, a semester or even a year and has come back raving about their experience. Inevitably, however, their time abroad is never recounted in full and all that you, the listener, is left with is a brief recounting of the highlights or a very vague overview of their time.
The purpose of this blog project is to shed some light on what the study-abroad experience is really like. You'll be privy to it all: the ups, the downs and everything in between. And for those of you interested in studying abroad, we, the authors, hope that our joys and our mistakes will both answer some of your questions and show you that while the study abroad experience may have a complicated beginning with all of those applications and questionnaires, it is truly worth it.
